from

Traditional Chinese Feng Shui is based on the constant movement of the five basic elements of Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal.  Prior to the commencement of the New Year, people make changes in their environments to protect them from the unfavorable combinations of elements. It’s recommended that you have these items in place before the Chinese New Year’s Day. This year, the changes include:

  • Hang six metal coins in the northwest for illness prevention.
  • Hang a 6 tube hollow metal chime in the south for protection from obstacles and adversity.
  • Avoid beginning construction in the north.
  • Place a red envelope (with a coin inside it) in the west for protection against arguments and theft.
  • Place 4 bamboo plants in a glass vase filled with water in the southwest for protection from scandals and stealing.
  • Clear the northwest and the south areas with a metal singing bowl or tingsha bells once per month.
