Creating Healing Environments with Feng
Shui and Bau-biologie™
Carol Cannon, BBEC
Feng Shui is an art that enhances our lives to create health, harmony,
and prosperity. As handed down from ancient Chinese practice, it
also includes the effect upon us of the environment. In practicing
Feng Shui there are times when practicing "good" Feng
Shui may include more than the traditional Feng Shui principles.
Modern factors, such as electricity and air quality, may be impacting
your health, indicating a need to incorporate corresponding Feng
Shui adjustments. For this reason, Bau-biologie™
has become an integral part of my practice as a Feng Shui Practitioner.
Bau-biologie™ is a German science that
literally means "building biology," or the impact a building
has upon human life. We are living in a modern world, with technology
that was not always designed to be compatible with the human body.
Over time, continued exposure to electro-magnetic fields (EMF's)
and chemicals in buildings has caused a growing number of people
to become environmentally ill. Others, who are less sensitive, often
become afflicted because they are not aware of the principles of
Bau-biologie and environmental health. By being aware and knowledgeable
of this science, I have saved the health of many of my Feng Shui
clients.
Recently, a client moved to a new apartment and called for my help
in re-arranging his furniture, according to Feng Shui principles.
He was so enthusiastic, that as we were walking around looking at
the various rooms, he started to move all the furniture. When we
got to the bedroom, I suggested that his bed would be in the most
commanding position if it were catty-cornered to the door. Within
seconds he was moving his king size bed. I asked him to stop so
I could test the area with a gauss meter, to determine if there
were any elevated EMF's. Sure enough, we found that the lines feeding
the electric power into the apartment were running directly underneath
where he planned to move his bed. Had he moved his bed to this location,
he would be exposing himself to high fields. Unknowingly, he might
have begun to have insomnia, headaches, and other potential ill
health effects. The Feng Shui Bau-biologie solution was to move
the bed to a position that was free of EMF's. This resulted in a
position that was not 'good' Feng Shui, as it was along the wall
in which the door was located. This was easily resolved by placing
a mirror on the opposite wall, so he could see the door and correct
any potential for nervousness.
Another client called me to rearrange her law office. She mentioned
that there was another attorney in the office next door. The neighboring
attorney had her computer against the wall where my client was sitting
in a Feng Shui correct position. However, the EM's coming through
the wall was quite high, and, as a result the location was not the
best from a Bau-biological™ perspective.
The solution was to move the desk to the safest EMF position in
her office, which was near the door and not 'good' Feng Shui. She
resolved this by placing a crystal paperweight on the desk between
her seat and the door, so she would soften the effect of the flow
of ch'i coming in her door. This position placed her in her career
location of the office, and, she reported an increase in clients
immediately after moving. She also was able to feel support by facing
the children area of her office, where she placed pictures of her
son.
In the pre-interior design phase of a new warehouse building, a
client asked me to review the plans to be sure there was a balance
of Feng Shui and Bau-biologie™ principles.
I found that the owner would be sitting very close to the power
source for the entire building. This would place him in extremely
high fields which could become dangerous to his health. To solve
this potential EMF danger, I suggested his desk be placed as far
from the electric source as possible. This did not result in 'good'
Feng Shui, as it placed him in front of the door. However, he liked
the idea of being able to see what was going on. To protect his
energy, he placed a heavy art sculpture that represented the work
of his company between his desk and the door, to block any negative
energy. This same client had already installed the plumbing for
two bathrooms, one in the center of his building and one in the
fame location. As bathrooms can drain an area that they fall on,
and it was not an option to move these two, a Feng Shui cure was
implemented. Thanks to the building being in the pre-interior design
construction stage, he was able to install mirrors inside the walls,
prior to putting up the drywall. Thus, the building had a chance
at providing good health and fame by an "invisible" adjustment.
Pre-construction is an ideal time to call a Feng Shui practitioner.
You can lay out the plans to seek the highest harmony at this point.
If your Feng Shui practitioner is not familiar with how to test
for electro-magnetics, consult a Bau-biologie™
Environmental Inspector in your area. Familiarizing yourself with
healthy building habits can save you potential injury to your health.
The following stories are my own experiences, and the turning point
in my commitment to Bau-biologie™. I
was working part-time for a designer, while I was studying Feng
Shui and interior design. One day my assignment was to go and "sit"
in a newly renovated home, to oversee the sub-contractors. The building
had just been painted and newly carpeted. The paint was not of the
non-toxic variety, and the carpet was synthetic with toxic glue.
I literally had to keep running outside, as I could not breathe
indoors, due to the out gassing. When I realized that these common
materials were affecting me, I knew it was time to find a solution.
Another time I was attending a three day workshop, and by the end
of the first day I was feeling light-headed, as if I were beginning
to get a headache. The next day, sitting in the same seat, I began
to feel the same way. Fortunately, we had an instructor showing
us how to test for EMF's, and I asked to borrow his meter. To my
amazement, I discovered very high EMF's at my seat, and, I discovered
the source was a hidden TV behind me where the class was being taped.
By moving towards the front of the class, away from the source,
I was provided with quick relief. After these experiences, I made
some quick decisions to fly to Clearwater, FL, to meet Helmut Ziehe,
then President of the International Institute for Bau-biologie and
Ecology, Inc., and I immediately signed up for the full course to
become a Bau-biologie Environmental Inspector.
Another client's home reflects yet another Bau-biologie discovery
during a Feng Shui Bau-biologie™ consultation.
This woman was remodeling a lovely condominium directly on the beach
in South Florida. I consulted on Feng Shui principles and tested
for EMF's, both creating a healthy environment for her dream home.
Prior to my departure, she casually mentioned that she was having
her ceilings torn out and replaced the following day. The characteristics
of the ceiling and the building's age led me to ask whether she
had done any testing for asbestos. She had not, and I persuaded
her to have the tests done. The results indicated the presence of
asbestos. Thanks to Bau-biologie principles, I convinced her to
not remove the ceiling, and she avoided a potentially deadly opportunity
to invite cancer or asbestosis into her life.
There are many times I am aware of Bau-biologie principles when
being consulted for Feng Shui. Often, the reverse is also true.
As a Bau-Biologist™, I have consulted
purely for EMF's, only to discover less than desirable Feng Shui.
Recently, a client called to have her bedroom tested for EMF's,
because she was experiencing headaches and serious confusion. While
the EMF's were abnormally high, I also noticed there was a beam
above the bed, directly over her head. Not only did she make the
physical adjustments to lower the EMF's, but, she placed flutes
on the beam to transcendentally 'lift' the energy and help alleviate
her health problems.
We are living in a world where Feng Shui is needed to help people
create more harmony in their lives. By adding the principles of
Bau-biologie™, we can marry art and
science to create the healthiest environmental potential. Through
a series of compromises, these examples have shown how good Feng
Shui and Bau-biologie can result in pleasant and healthy design.
This is a combination that can go far in creating a better planet
for the future, in keeping with the ancient Chinese tradition of
Feng Shui.
NINE TIPS FOR CREATING A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
-
Have a basic screening test completed for EMF's by a Certified
